I just cleaned my heavy traffic areas with this machine and I am amazed at how much dirt, grime, and cat hair it removed from my carpet! We're a family of four with one (short haired) cat, and in our heavy traffic areas the carpet begins to look sad and dirty. I've used a cheaper cleaner several times in the past, and I find the ProHeat 2X to be superior in a few key ways:
1. separate dirty and clean water spaces, but both are in one unit to pull out and bring to the sink
2. it clearly picks up more than the $125 range machine I was borrowing (probably about 3x as much)
3. didn't have to do as much pretreating/scrubbing spots before I cleaned the whole area-- the regular setting or the "heavy traffic setting" were generally enough to erase the spots without special attention
This is the first time I've used the machine and I found the instructions to be simple, and the machine to be effective. Best of all, we got a great deal on it at our local Costco store-- only $199 right now, the best price I've seen for this particular cleaner.
