I haven't read any reviews concerning 3 1/2 year-olds who LOVES vacuums. All those who have little boys (or girls) who love vacuums (and street sweepers, and garbage trucks, and dump trucks, etc), raise your hand! This is the sweeper for you and the best $40 you'll ever spend on a toy. My son goes to town every morning on my house, which is all hard wood and tile. Just leave out the middle wand when you put the sweeper together, and it's the perfect size. No more crying over tangled cords and bumps on the head from the big vacuum falling on his head when he tries to use the hose. He can see all the "mess" right in the collection cup, and he loves to get down on the ground to watch the brushes go round and round.
We have 2 dogs, a cat, and one big sandbox in the backyard. Sand and hair gets swept up every day by my little helper (and sometimes me when I asked permission to use it). So, for now, I don't need (or want) a Roomba.
