Customer Review: Getting a Handle on its Problem

We have a Newfoundland dog, so rounding up dust varmints is a constant effort. We had an older version of this, works a treat. Only, son lost a chunk of the handle. So we got this one. Still works a treat -- but that handle design. If you're getting it for the ability of taking the handle apart, I'd advise against it, because to keep body and arm together we resorted to duct tape. Which is a fine solution for OUR need -- but maybe the Bissel folks could come up with a better one.
For cleaning? Best working carpet/floor sweeper we've used. [We have, it should be noted, Berber carpet, low pile, and hardwood.] It's not 100% -- but other brands haven't been 50%. [And even a vacuum isn't 100% -- those dust varmints run for it.]
Caveat ... you will have to stop and clean the brushes on a regular basis. We accept that as unavoidable with carpet sweepers, so we don't down-grade for it -- but if you don't expect to be sitting over a garbage can combing hair out of the brushes two or so times a room (there's a handy included tool), this could prove a rude surprise. But brushes don't clean themselves, and don't pick up when they're choked with dust varmints fighting for their lives. [Though you might not have the issues we do with our hairy friends.]
Customer Review: Good Enough for Quick (carpet/non carpet) Cleaning

I have a carpet floor but I didn't intend to have this product to replace my vacuum cleaner. For light floor surface cleaning, rather than uncoiling the cord of my vacuum cleaner - I just pull this out (sweeper) and start running over (to pick up) lint fibers, bits of papers, small beads, wrapper debris, and others similar to it. And it works fine. Of course, for deeper cleaning, use vacuum.
My rating is four star otherwise five. The only reason to be four star is the size (kind of big) which is not really a big deal for me for it serves the purpose of why I bought it. But pricewise, it is five star. There is a similar product made by rubbermaid which is smaller but the price is twice. At any rate, be careful with the handle - either Bisell or Rubbermaid or other similar products.
Well, I have to wait for more than four months so I can give a better review about this product.

The bissell carpet sweeper is great for quick pickups, BUT the top handle comes apart from the bottom half of the sweeper, it's very annoying and I have tried everything trying to keep it together. I bought this to use between vacuumings. I hate dragging out the big vacuum just to clean up little crumbs and such on the carpeting. This sweeper does a great job on crumbs and things on the carpeting and hard floor. The only thing I've noticed is it doesn't really pick up fuzz and stuff off of the carpet, so I have to pick those up by hand anyway. I was surprised, though, how much hair it picks up off of the carpet...it mostly gets stuck in the brushes and you have to pick it out, but at least it's picking it up! It's super easy to empty, too, and my [...] year old daughter loves using it!!
